Making things-Mikhail's Birthday

So here is the post I was getting to. We have been busy getting our tree, buying gifts for each other, visiting Santa, and baking in the last few days. We are ALMOST done!!! YAY

I loved the shape of this mustard jar but not the labels so I decided to cover it with fairly thick jute that I bought from Wal-mart for $5. I have a ton of it left over for other projects too.

Here's the before...

And after. I was just going to cover the glass but thought it would look a lot better with the lid done as well.
Found this idea on Pinterest. How to make paper feathers. I love how you can bend them to the shape you want.
 Some decorated presents...
a card, with one of my feathers... :)
Made myself a Christmas Tree for my Studio in pink.
I also made this bag for my daughter for school to carry her books. It is made from leftovers from the jeans I've had to hem.
And a bag for dance for my other daughter...

Bear is back, he got into our compost and demolished it. Guess we will be replacing that in the spring.

We also celebrated my son's birthday. He turned five!

He had one candle burning after blowing his candles out so my daughters teased him about having a girlfriend, this was his reaction. :)

Happy Birthday to my little guy.

And Merry Christmas to you!

Yet Again...

More Elf on the Shelf. I'm feeling a little swamped with Christmas and am behind with posting these. I will be posting some pretty things I made soon.

My son's nose was coloured red by Rudy with a crayola felt as he slept. He was a little angry with his elf that day! Luckily it was the weekend and didn't affect him publicly.

snowball fight
riding spiderman's motorbike
He was supposed to be bungee jumping but my son was cracking up laughing and saying he was trying to be spiderman so we went with that. :)
reminding me to send out these
fishing
locked outside
got into icing
was my son's birthday so Rudy wore my son's birthday pin
hung his own stocking

watch for my next post!

More Elf on the Shelf

I've been busy with Christmas and getting gifts ready for my kids so I don't have anything crafty to show you. I do have a few photos of the Elf, Ruby, and the mischief he's been up to.

This week started with him searching the newspaper for that perfect toy.

Then he got into the Oreo cookies, my son was shaking his head at our Elf getting into so much trouble.

Then he decided to draw on the kids school photos with dry erase markers.
The milk was green the next day, some of the things I've cooked have been green this week. :)
Then he made his own Christmas list...
Here's what our Elf wrote...

Rudy's Christmas List

new clothes
chocolate
Oreo cookies
ice skates
Christmas books
snow
scarf
slippers
toy sleigh
toy reindeer
candy canes
tools
snow mobile
wrapping paper
gingerbread house
Christmas CD
Christmas spirit

Love My 3

I'm really getting back into things again. So happy to post three more layouts that I've finished over the weekend.

For the first one I did some sewing around the edges and popped out the punched holes to give it more texture. LOVE my number stamp by fontwerks, first time I used it. I think I'll be using it more often. :)

 Close-up...
Photo of my kids out in the spring sunshine.
Mikhail and faces, can't get a normal photo of him.
Rudy has been busy. Mikhail got a kick out of him when he found out that he was playing with Mikhail's cars...

and the next morning when he made Mikhail a snowflake. He is a little messy.

So I thought I would get a Christmas photo of my kids all together. I took about 36 photos of them and these are the best ones.
ya, Mikhail and his faces make it pretty impossible. I think I might use the top right photo for our cards. I need a good caption though, what do you suggest?

I did get a cute photo of Thumper, our pet rabbit. :)

Mischievous Elf...

I looks like our little Elf is a mischievous one. We just started this tradition this year and my son was super excited to see where his little elf would end up in the morning. He certainly didn't expect him to be sneaking into the candies in the Christmas advent calendar. hee hee (shh, his big sisters are in on the secret of our Elf too!)

My son named him Rudy, short for Rudolph.

We are getting ready for my son's 5th birthday party too. He is in love with spiderman so spiderman is the theme. He helped me put 10 cards together, 2 for his sisters. :) The alphabet stamp has been embossed as well as the spiderweb stamp.

Published...

This is my first layout since I think February!! I haven't shopped for supplies, or did anything much related to it that whole time. I was trying my hand at art journaling a little though. It was nice to get a layout done. This is a layout about getting published in Canadian Scrapbooker. I kept all the post office packaging to include in my layout and stapled my contract to the back.

It is getting closer to Christmas. I am totally not ready for it this year. I did find a couple of things, yet again, on Pinterest and decided to try them as Christmas traditions starting this year.

One of the ideas was to wrap 24 Christmas stories and have your children open one a day until Christmas. This is perfect for little ones but it also works if you have a combined age group. My oldest will 14, youngest 5. The older ones can read some of the stories to the little ones if they are interested. All my kids are into this.
The last one is not wrapped because we all know we will be reading T'was the Night Before Christmas on the 24th, we do every year.
I have the advent calender ready and stocked with candy too.

My middle child has turned 12 this year. I made last minute Oreo Cupcakes for her birthday, idea form Pinterest. I see a theme here, lol.

A New Addiction...

Pinterest. Besides scrapping I find myself being drawn to pinterest daily. And I also find myself trying new crafts and recipes. Here are a few things I have tried in the last few months.

I made these for my kids teachers at the end of the year last year.
 here's what was inside...

and here's what we put inside the pocket that was on the outside.

I loved all the little play kitchens on Pinterest. I decided to make one for my son. I picked up this entertainment centre from a thrift store for $7!!

Before...
 Before...
 After...
After, this is more true to the colour we painted it. My son's favourite colour :).
I also couldn't wait to try out the kool-aid playdough recipe that was on there. My son couldn't wait either. They smell fabulous.
My son, (who is almost 5) insists that he is going to lose a tooth anyday now and needed his tooth fairy pillow made right away for the tooth fairy. I found one like this on Pinterest and made one like what I saw in the picture. My son LOVES his little monster. The mouth opens to a pocket where the tooth and money will be exchanged.

In other news, we have had a bear hanging out on our property lately. He is cute but a little to close for comfort. Looking for food to fatten up on before he hybernates for the winter. I'm hoping he is gone now.
